So… Do You Really Want to Get Rich?

We all like the idea: financial freedom, more choices, maybe even luxury.

But let’s be honest, liking the idea and doing what it takes are two very different things. If you have reached the stage where you wanted to test yourself by taking a quiz, there’s a good point that at some point in your life you have also set an alarm for yourself at 5 a.m., thinking: tomorrow I’m gonna start on my journey.

And given that you are here now instead of working on that journey, you probably snoozed that alarm. After all, you can also start getting rich a couple of hours later, right? Or tomorrow…

So here’s a real question:

Do you just dream of getting rich – or do you actually have what it takes to make it happen?

That’s exactly what this quiz is here to explore.

It’s inspired by Felix Dennis.

I can hear you thinking: “Who’s that? Some guy who wrote a self-help book in the previous century?” Well, you’re partly right. Sure, he wrote a book about getting rich, but he wrote it after he built a fortune that would make him a billionaire today.

You might have heard of Maxim Magazine, he founded and owned that. And if you’re now saying to yourself, well, in those days anyone could get rich from a magazine that featured beautiful women on the cover, I say to you: true. But he actually got rich from founding magazines about computers; doesn’t get a lot more dull than that.

P.s. If you’ve never heard of Maxim whilst living in a western country, I envy your youth.

Anyhow, you’re not here to read about some dead publisher/poet, you’re here to discover if you’ve got what it takes to get rich.

So let’s get to it.

Finished and now asking: How do I start building wealth?

Happy with your result? Maybe you saw your ambition confirmed. Maybe you saw your comfort exposed. Either way, this quiz wasn’t about ego, it was about clarity.

Getting seriously wealthy demands obsession, risk, and relentless action, and it never comes without any cost. Most people aren’t cut out for it, hence most people don’t get seriously rich.

So what now?

Maybe you’ve just confirmed you’re ready for the challenge. Or maybe you’ve realized you’re happier sipping rosé while others grind it out. Either way, if you still want to tr,  you’ll need more than a plan.

You’ll need a foundation. A way of thinking. A lens.

We could write you a guide – or a book –  but better to let the man say it himself. In a short, brutal poem, Felix Dennis lays out the fundamentals like only he could.

What are your chances of getting seriously rich?

To answer that, let’s first define what seriously rich actually means. In the Netherlands, a reasonable benchmark is making it onto the Quote 500, the Dutch version of the Forbes Rich List.

With around 17.9 million people living here, that means the raw odds are about 1 in 35,800. But, as they say, there are lies, damned lies, and statistics.

Let’s dig deeper.

Roughly 2.7 million people are under 18 (not in the game yet), and another 3.8 million are over 65 (likely past the point of intense wealth-building). That leaves about 11.4 million adults of working age.

Now subtract:

  • ~840,000 receiving disability benefits — unlikely contenders.

  • ~1.1 million working in government roles — even if some are overpaid, they’re not exactly building empires.

That leaves us with about 9.5 million in the realistic wealth-chasing pool.

Now ask yourself: of all the people you know, how many actually want to get rich — and have the drive, risk tolerance, and raw ability to pull it off? Be generous: let’s say 3%. That gives us around 285,000 real contenders.

Suddenly, your odds of joining the Quote 500 jump from 1 in 35,800 to about 1 in 570.

Still daunting? Maybe. But remember — the 500th spot on the list starts around €135 million. You don’t need to hit that to be considered seriously rich by most standards.

And truthfully, there are plenty of reasons not to pursue it. Lack of money causes stress, but excessive money won’t buy happiness either. You actually be better off by creating a solid budget for yourself. (Feel free to steal our free configurator)

Still want to try?

Good. Just remember:
Mindset is the gatekeeper to becoming rich.
